Arrive well prepared

Appointments

As a rule, an outpatient preliminary examination or direct inpatient admission is arranged with us directly by your doctor. However, you can also arrange an appointment for an examination in advance yourself using the following telephone numbers:

Patient admission

If you are admitted as an inpatient, we endeavour to complete the formalities as quickly and pleasantly as possible for you. Please bring the following documents with you:

  • Hospital referral (Krankenhausverordnung) from the referring doctor
  • Insurance card of your statutory health insurance fund and/or hospital card (Klinik-Card) of your private health or supplementary insurance

If available:

  • Exemption certificate from your health insurance fund (Befreiungsausweis)
  • Current medical findings
  • List of the medicines you need to take regularly
  • Allergy passport (Allergiepass)
  • Anaesthesia card (Anästhesiepass)
  • Advance directive (Patientenverfügung)

We assure you that your data will be treated in strict confidence.

Patient admissions is located on the ground floor, immediately to the right after reception. Our admissions office is open for you from Monday to Thursday from 07:30 to 17:15 and on Fridays until 16:00. Outside office hours, the staff at the information desk or the Central Emergency Department are there for you.

How to get to the Diakoniekrankenhaus

Optional services

Optional services are services that you can take up separately for an additional charge. If you have supplementary or private insurance, these costs are usually covered by your insurer. Of course, you may take up any additional services at any time. If you do not have such insurance, we must agree the use of these services with you in writing and invoice them separately. For your own security, please therefore check in advance the extent of your cover and whether your health insurance fund covers the relevant additional options.

Our optional services

Chief Physician treatment

The optional service “Chief Physician treatment” (Chefarztbehandlung) is an optional service charged separately and means that you will be operated on and treated personally by the Chief Physician or, if he is unavailable, by his deputies. It also applies to all Chief Physicians of our hospital involved in your treatment, as well as to all medical services commissioned by these physicians and to medically supervised facilities outside the hospital.

The services provided are billed in accordance with the official German scale of medical fees (GOÄ) in its currently valid version. The optional service “Chief Physician treatment” is agreed with you in writing before you make use of it.

Accommodation

You can choose between a single or a double room, provided that occupancy on the ward allows this.

Among the single rooms, a distinction is made between premium and standard rooms. If you would like a single room, we will make every effort to provide you with one. However, please understand that a hospital cannot be planned 100% like a hotel and that, if beds are in short supply, we are unfortunately unable to meet every request immediately.

Accompanying person

If bed occupancy allows, an accompanying person can stay overnight in the patient’s room. We will have to invoice you separately for the costs of accommodation and meals.

Extension day for outpatient procedures

For some operations and procedures, the health insurance funds require us to perform them as outpatient treatment. However, if you would like us to monitor and care for you for one or two days after the procedure at your own expense, this is of course possible. We will have to invoice you separately for the costs of this period.
