Internship
Nursing internship and external student placements
As an academic teaching hospital of the University of Freiburg, the training and qualification of young professionals, including in nursing, is very close to our hearts.
We therefore offer you various opportunities to get to know everyday life and nursing work in a hospital. We support you in different types of internship. These include, for example, internships during medical studies, during paramedic training, as part of generalist nursing training, or school work-experience placements. As a general rule, we require a minimum age of 15 years.
Working hours:
Interns who stay with us for longer than 3 weeks are scheduled for shift work (including weekends, excluding night shifts).
Interns in the delivery suite also work night shifts.
School work-experience students work Monday to Friday from 07:30 – 15:00.
For all internships we require:
- A cover letter stating the reason, start date (Mondays only) and duration
- CV (please download the file and fill it in)
- Social security number
- Confidentiality declaration (Schweigepflichtserklärung) (download form)
- Medical certificate of fitness (Ärztliches Gesundheitszeugnis) (download form)
- Language level of at least B2
Additionally for school work-experience placements:
- Letter from your school
- Signed list of activities (you will receive this from us after acceptance)
Additionally for student internships:
- Certificate of enrolment
IMPORTANT
To be able to complete an internship at our hospital, the completed medical certificate of fitness (see Downloads) must be signed by your GP and submitted before the start of the internship. To protect everyone, an internship is unfortunately not possible without the required vaccinations.
Please note that we regard your acceptance as binding. If you cancel at short notice, you deprive other students of the opportunity to take up the internship.
