Dear patients, dear relatives,
it is very important to us that you feel you are in good hands with us. In addition to all the other staff who look after you during your stay in hospital, we have a patient advocate: Dr. phil. Helmut Waller.
He is there specifically for your personal concerns. As patients or relatives, you can approach the patient advocate with your questions, wishes, suggestions for improvement, criticism and praise.
He will listen to you, take note of your concerns and, if necessary, forward them to the relevant departments. He does all this confidentially, independently, on a voluntary basis and, of course, free of charge.
I am here for you:
-
as a point of contact for your concerns as patients or relatives:
-
to listen openly to your complaints.
-
to represent your interests vis-à-vis the hospital.
-
to mediate in the event of conflict between patients and medical staff, nurses or other hospital employees.
-
to pass on your suggestions for improvement and ideas to the relevant department in the hospital.

Dr. phil. Helmut Waller:
After completing my doctorate, I worked abroad for several years before becoming an employee of the University of Freiburg in 1998. For many years I was a full-time member of the staff council, released from other duties, and in this role I served as deputy chair for seven years and as chair of the staff council for five years. During this time I learned a great deal about conducting conversations and moderation, through training courses but above all in daily practice.
How to reach me:
- by e-mail to patientenfuersprecher@diak-fr.de.
- by telephone on +491732978201">0173 / 29 78 201.
- in a personal appointment by prior arrangement
- again from 30 September 2026 also during my on-site consultation hours, usually every Wednesday, 10.30 am to 11.30 am in room 0.2.32 (please ask for directions at the hospital information desk at the main entrance)
- or ask the nurses on your ward to contact me.
