Parathyroid gland

In special cases, an enlargement of the parathyroid gland can occur, which has a significant effect on the body’s calcium balance. In this situation, removal of the affected parathyroid gland is usually necessary. Owing to our extensive experience with conventional thyroid operations, this procedure is performed at our hospital with a high level of expertise. We measure parathyroid hormone (= parathormone) during the operation, so that we can already check the success of the operation intraoperatively.
