Therapy
Treatment at the Continence and Pelvic Floor Centre is tailored to the individual clinical picture, the severity of symptoms, the findings obtained and the personal needs of patients. Depending on the indication, conservative, drug-based, physiotherapeutic and surgical treatment methods are used. For complex conditions, treatment is planned on an interdisciplinary basis.
Our range of treatments includes in particular:
- Conservative therapy: Individually tailored measures to improve continence and pelvic floor function, including behavioural measures, bladder and bowel training, and advice on factors relevant to everyday life
- Drug therapy: Use of suitable medication to treat bladder dysfunction, urgency, urinary incontinence and other indication-related symptoms
- Physiotherapy / pelvic floor therapy: Targeted pelvic floor training and physiotherapeutic measures to improve the muscle strength, coordination and awareness of the pelvic floor and to treat functional disorders
- Pessary therapy: Where indicated, fitting of a pessary for the conservative treatment of prolapse and selected forms of stress incontinence. Fitting and follow-up are carried out individually
- Surgical procedures: Where indicated, surgical procedures are available to treat pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence and other structural or functional disorders. The procedure is selected after thorough diagnostic assessment and individual consideration of the treatment options
The various treatment options are discussed in detail with patients.
