Diseases and conditions

The Continence and Pelvic Floor Centre South Baden treats a broad spectrum of diseases and functional disorders of the pelvic floor. Diagnosis and treatment are interdisciplinary and depend on the individual symptoms, the findings obtained and the underlying cause.

Treatment is tailored to the individual clinical picture and may include conservative, physiotherapeutic, medicinal, interventional or surgical measures. In complex cases, the further course of action is agreed within the interdisciplinary pelvic floor conference.

The main conditions include in particular:

  • Urinary incontinence: diagnosis and treatment of various forms of urinary incontinence, in particular stress, urge and mixed incontinence, as well as complex and recurrent forms of incontinence
  • Pelvic floor descent and genital prolapse: diagnosis and treatment of descent of the pelvic organs, including descent of the bladder (cystocele), the rectum (rectocele) and the uterus or vaginal apex (uterine or vaginal prolapse)
  • Bladder dysfunction: investigation and treatment of functional disorders of the bladder and lower urinary tract, including symptoms such as urgency, frequent urination and residual urine
  • Recurrent cystitis: investigation of recurrent urinary tract infections and assessment of possible contributing factors, as well as interdisciplinary co-treatment in complex cases
  • Faecal incontinence: diagnosis and treatment of the involuntary loss of stool or stool components and the associated functional disorders of the pelvic floor and sphincter muscle
  • Defecation disorders and constipation: investigation and treatment of bowel emptying disorders, including functional defecation disorders and pelvic floor dyssynergia
  • Proctological conditions: diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the rectum and anal canal, particularly where symptoms relate to pelvic floor function and continence
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction: investigation and treatment of functional disorders of the pelvic floor, which may manifest, among other things, as pain, emptying disorders or continence problems
  • Complex and recurrent conditions: interdisciplinary assessment and treatment of recurring symptoms, unsuccessful previous treatment or complex constellations of findings involving several specialist disciplines
