Stoma clinic

Stoma clinic

Some diseases make it necessary to create an artificial bowel or bladder outlet (stoma). This may be a temporary or a permanent measure.

Having a stoma will change your everyday life and may be a considerable burden for you. In our clinic we therefore want to accompany and advise you as well as possible at every stage.

Even before the stoma is created, we talk with you about what to expect and prepare you for the procedure. Together with the doctor, we carry out the stoma site marking. After the stoma has been created, we support you with professional and trustworthy advice so that you gain confidence in managing your stoma and can be discharged home feeling secure. Even after your hospital stay, we are there to help and advise you if any problems arise.

Our services at a glance:

  • Preparatory consultation with the stoma therapists before the stoma is created
  • Stoma site marking before the operation
  • Initial care after the operation
  • Instruction and advice on handling and caring for the stoma
  • Provision of stoma care products
  • if desired: involvement and training of relatives
  • Information about living with a stoma (diet, work, relationships, etc.)
  • Discharge management and aftercare
  • Support from the social services team regarding severe disability, pension and rehabilitation measures
