Careers

Apprenticeship as a plumbing, heating and air-conditioning technician (m/f/d)

Understand complex technology. Solve problems. Become an expert.

Are you interested in technology, do you enjoy practical work and would you like to understand how large buildings work technically? Then training as a plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air-conditioning systems (Anlagenmechaniker für Sanitär-, Heizungs- und Klimatechnik) at our hospital is just right for you!

A hospital is technically more demanding than one might think at first glance. Numerous heating, sanitary and ventilation systems as well as complex building services systems must function reliably so that the hospital runs smoothly. During your training you will get to know these systems step by step and develop into a true expert in technical building services.

What to expect in your training

The focus is on the upkeep, maintenance and repair of our technical systems as well as on minor conversion and installation work. You can look forward to varied working days with ever new technical challenges.

  • Getting to know complex building services: You will gain insights into the wide range of technical systems in a hospital and gradually understand how the individual systems work together.
  • Servicing and maintaining: You will learn to inspect systems regularly, ensure they function properly and detect technical problems at an early stage.
  • Finding and fixing faults: You will get to the bottom of malfunctions, analyse their causes and learn to develop suitable solutions.
  • Repairing and modernising: You will assist with repairs, the replacement of components and minor conversion projects.
  • Becoming a technical expert: With every new task you will deepen your knowledge and develop an understanding of the complex technical interrelationships that make safe and reliable hospital operations possible.

What you should bring

Are you interested in technology, good with your hands, and keen not only to help out but also to understand how things work? Then you have come to the right place!

What matters is a careful and reliable way of working, enjoyment in solving technical problems and a willingness to learn new things. You should also enjoy working in a team and be keen to familiarise yourself step by step with demanding technical systems.

Training with responsibility and prospects

The training usually lasts 3.5 years and takes place at the training company and at vocational school. With us, you will not only get to know individual components and systems, but also gain a comprehensive insight into the technical infrastructure of a hospital.

You will further develop your manual skills, learn to recognise connections and become increasingly independent in solving technical tasks. In this way, you lay the foundation for a long-term professional future with a wide range of further training and development opportunities.
