Dear parents,

experience shows that the birth of a sibling brings many changes for the firstborn child. To prevent jealousy, the big sister or big brother-to-be learns about the needs of the newborn.

About the course and the topics we discuss on the course day.

- What can be done during pregnancy to avoid jealousy as far as possible

- What to bear in mind at the first meeting with the new sibling

- What to pay attention to in everyday life

- Sibling constellations

- Sex education belongs in the family

- We will also discuss what you as parents can do to avoid jealousy.

At the same time, the children (without their parents) go on a voyage of discovery through the hospital, e.g. the maternity ward, the breastfeeding room, etc. Afterwards, the siblings practise handling their dolls in a child-appropriate way, as well as nappy changing and bathing. Break with fruit and mineral water. To finish, the children receive a sibling diploma.

The course is recommended for siblings aged 3 and over and for all parents expecting another child.

If possible, please bring a doll for practising.
When registering, please state the number, age and first and last names of your children under “Comments”.

She will let you know which room the course will take place in and answer any remaining questions you may have about the course.

Registration
Registration for the parent school courses is made via the website of the Diakoniekrankenhaus. After successful registration you will receive a registration confirmation by e-mail. If you do not receive this confirmation, please check your spam folder or contact us by telephone (0761 1301654).
The confirmation e-mail also contains information on the time and room of the courses. If the course is already fully booked, registration is not possible.
After successful registration, the confirmation e-mail constitutes a firm commitment of your place on the course.

Registration conditions
When registering, please make sure that your child's due date matches the registration conditions. If it does not correspond to the relevant course conditions and you are unable to attend the course because of the birth of your child, we reserve the right to charge the course fee. Detailed information can be found in the respective course description.

Cancellation and cancellation policy
If you are unable to attend, please cancel with the parent school at least 21 days in advance so that other parents can take your place and you do not incur any additional costs.
The cancellation must be sent to us by means of a clear statement by post or e-mail (Evangelisches Diakoniekrankenhaus Freiburg, Wirthstraße 11, 79110 Freiburg, e-mail: elternschule@diak-fr.de).
If you withdraw within 21 days before the start of the course and we are unable to find a replacement participant, we reserve the right to charge the course fee. You will then automatically receive an invoice from the course leader.

Cancellation of events
If the course is cancelled by the parent school of the Evang. Diakoniekrankenhaus for organisational reasons, the participation fee paid will be refunded in full.
If a course cannot take place owing to an insufficient number of participants, we will inform you no later than two weeks before the start of the course.
We reserve the right to cancel the course at short notice or to move it to an alternative date for other important reasons for which we are not responsible (e.g. acute illness of the course instructor, force majeure). If the new date does not suit you, the participation fees you have already paid will be refunded.

Important information about the course:

-Please let us know your child's age and first name and surname

-Please tell your child that the group will split up during the course, which means that parents and children will separate after a short introduction together.

The children will be given a tour of the maternity ward, will be shown how to change a baby's nappy, will practise nappy changing on their dolls, will learn how to handle a baby and much more...
At the same time, the parents will receive information on dealing with jealousy etc.

-There will be an apple and drinks break for the children

-The course takes place in the parent school on the 4th floor. Please take off your shoes before entering; if necessary, bring slippers for the children

-As card payment is unfortunately not possible, we kindly ask you to pay the course fee in cash
