Antenatal preparation for couples with previous birth experience – Hypno & Birth

You have already had a child and know that every birth writes its own unique story. This compact weekend course is aimed at couples who already have experience of giving birth and would like to prepare consciously for the next birth and the changes in the family.

In everyday life with one or more children, there is often little time to attune yourselves together to the upcoming birth. This course aims to create exactly that space: time as a couple to focus on the coming birth, your own wishes and the new family situation.

What helped you during your last birth? What would you like to be different this time? What do you need as a woman, as a partner and as a couple in order to approach the birth with self-efficacy and full confidence?

You will learn or refresh effective techniques from self-hypnosis, HypnoBirthing and mental training. With breathing, relaxation and body exercises you can try out what suits you and what can specifically support you during the birth. The focus is particularly on strengthening trust in your own body, letting go and giving space to your own intuition and ability to give birth.

The child you already have, or the siblings, are also part of preparing for the new family phase: How can we prepare them for the baby? What changes for them – and for us as a family? How can the early days be organised when suddenly more than one child needs attention and closeness?

Alongside the birth, the course therefore also deliberately makes room for your relationship as a couple and becoming parents again. The birth of another child changes not only the family but also how you relate to each other as a couple. The course invites you to discuss expectations, wishes and tasks with each other and to reorganise yourselves as a team for the time ahead.

In addition, we look at the onset of labour and the latent phase, helpful birthing positions, the role of the partner, and the early days and feeding of the newborn.

A special element of the weekend:
Bernd Schmidt, who leads the fathers’ groups at the parent school, accompanies the partners for about two hours in a separate module. This offers space for experiences from the first birth, their own role in the coming birth and questions about becoming parents again.

The weekend course takes place on Fridays from 15:00–20:00 and on Saturdays from 9:30–16:30.

When you register, a place for your partner (subject to a fee) is automatically reserved.

If possible, please choose a course date that ends at least three to four weeks before your estimated due date.

Registration
Registration for the parent school courses is via the website of the Diakoniekrankenhaus. After successful registration you will receive a confirmation of registration by e-mail. If you do not receive this confirmation, please check your spam folder or contact us (elternschule@diak-fr.de).
The confirmation e-mail also contains information on the time, the room and/or whether the course takes place online. If the course is already fully booked, registration is not possible.
After successful registration, the confirmation e-mail constitutes a firm commitment of your course place.

Registration conditions
When registering, please make sure the course suits your baby’s due date. This should be at least 3–4 weeks after the start of the course, or even later.

Withdrawal and cancellation policy
You may withdraw from the course free of charge up to 21 days before it begins, using the cancellation button in your confirmation e-mail.
Once the cancellation period has expired, the button is no longer active and free cancellation is no longer possible.
After that, payment for the course is mandatory and you will receive an invoice.

Cancellation of events
If the course is cancelled by the parent school of the Evang. Diakoniekrankenhaus for organisational reasons, the participation fee paid will be refunded in full.
If a course cannot take place due to an insufficient number of participants, we will inform you no later than two weeks before the course begins.
We reserve the right to cancel the course at short notice or to move it to an alternative date for other important reasons beyond our control (e.g. sudden illness of the instructor, force majeure). If the new date does not suit you, any participation fees you have already paid will be refunded.

Partner fee: 160 euros

The fee for the pregnant woman is usually covered by your health insurance fund.
Many health insurance funds now also cover the partner fee in part or in full.
Please enquire directly with your health insurance fund.
