Our services for you

Range of minimally invasive surgery

Minimally invasive surgery (keyhole surgery) is a gentle method of operating. It reduces pain after the operation and the length of the hospital stay to a minimum, as only small, gentle skin incisions are made. All the instruments required for the operation are inserted into the abdominal cavity through these small openings. Another minimally invasive method is hysteroscopy for the treatment of diseases of the uterine cavity. Many of these operations are performed on an outpatient basis.

We use these methods for:

Operations on the ovaries and fallopian tubes

  • Checking the patency of the fallopian tubes in couples wishing to have children
  • Removal of all types of ovarian cysts, usually while preserving the ovary
  • Treatment of an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, preserving the fallopian tube where possible
  • Sterilisation

Operations on the uterus

  • Investigation of the causes of irregular bleeding
  • Ablation of the uterine lining in cases of severe bleeding disorders
  • Removal of fibroids and polyps (benign growths of the uterus)
  • Laparoscopic hysterectomy, either total (TLH) or preserving the cervix (LASH), if necessary with laparoscopic pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy

Other minimally invasive operations:

  • Treatment of uterine or vaginal prolapse
  • Investigation of lower abdominal pain
  • Removal of adhesions
  • Removal of displaced uterine lining tissue (endometriosis treatment)
  • Removal of a lost coil (lost IUD)

Pelvic organ prolapse

Another focus of the department is the treatment of prolapse of the uterus, vagina, bladder and bowel. In addition to classic operations, the latest surgical procedures involving the insertion of high-quality meshes are offered.
Always preserving the vagina and, on request, also preserving the uterus.

Urinary incontinence

Since January 1998, our department has been using new minimally invasive surgical procedures with a very high success rate to treat urinary incontinence. The department has specialised in this field and has achieved a leading position. Operations are offered for the treatment of both stress incontinence (TVT / TOT) and urge incontinence (bladder base denervation). In 2005, the Continence Centre at the Evangelisches Diakoniekrankenhaus (KODIA) was founded for the treatment of urinary and faecal incontinence. In 2026, KODIA will be continued by the Continence and Pelvic Floor Centre South Baden.

Psycho-oncology

Patients of our Breast Centre are offered psycho-oncological support during their treatment and beyond the therapy phase.

During the inpatient stay, we first ask whether such support is needed. Often, however, the wish for conversations only arises in the course of further treatment, or after it has ended, before or during the return “to normal life”. Please do not hesitate to contact us at that point as well.

Bleeding disorders

The department also performs surgical treatment of female bleeding disorders while preserving the uterus. This includes removal of the uterine lining with a thermal loop and uterus-preserving removal of fibroids. Removal of the uterus through the vagina in cases of bleeding disorders or a greatly enlarged uterus is another area of specialisation of the department.

Outpatient procedures

Numerous gynaecological operations can be performed on an outpatient basis. These include:

  • Uterine curettage (abrasio) for bleeding disorders or miscarriages
  • Hysteroscopies, e.g. to remove fibroids and polyps or to ablate the lining of the uterus
  • Laparoscopies for diagnosis in cases of unexplained symptoms or involuntary childlessness, but also for sterilisation
  • Removal of cysts and abscesses in the genital area
  • Aesthetic plastic surgery of the labia

At an initial appointment in our outpatient clinic, the procedure is planned together with you in a consultation following a thorough medical examination. If you have significant pre-existing conditions, you can provide us with valuable information by passing on any existing reports.
In some cases, such as sterilisation, the services are not covered by the statutory health insurance funds. We will be happy to advise you on the costs incurred in such a case.

The operation takes place by individual arrangement, usually in the morning. After the operation, you will be looked after in our recovery and rest room. At the discharge examination a few hours later, we will inform you about the course of treatment and further recommendations. In exceptional cases, inpatient admission may be necessary. You also have the option of staying overnight with us as part of the outpatient operation if you feel unsure about being at home. Only a very small charge is made for this.

Treatment for early pregnancy loss

Since April 2025, an improved medical treatment method has been used for pregnancy loss (miscarriage in the first weeks of pregnancy). Instead of the previous monotherapy with misoprostol, treatment is now carried out with a combination of mifepristone (Mifegyne®) and misoprostol.
