Operating in Africa

“Operieren in Afrika e. V.” is a voluntarily run association that has been carrying out regular medical aid missions in Burkina Faso since 2001.

In 2014 we were able to open our own surgical clinic in Burkina Faso, staffed by 17 African employees. This clinic provides basic surgical and obstetric care for the local population and at the same time serves as a base for short-term missions in which specialists from Germany and Switzerland perform complex operations together with the African doctors. This unique concept of involving surgical specialists who are in the midst of their working lives in our clinic project through short-term missions guarantees a vibrant clinic that provides valuable help to the local population in need.

In addition, we support a school with 450 children and currently organise and manage 230 sponsorships.

The Ev. Diakoniekrankenhaus Freiburg provides substantial support for our work on site.
