Stomach (partial gastrectomy, gastrectomy)
We have had a high level of expertise in gastric surgery for many years. The operation is now only very rarely necessary for benign diseases – as a rule, surgery on the stomach is performed because of a malignant tumour. Depending on the location and type of tumour, complete removal of the stomach may not be necessary. However, extensive removal of the lymph nodes according to strict oncological criteria is essential. In close coordination within our Visceral Medicine Centre, we assess whether pre-treatment (neoadjuvant therapy) is required before gastric surgery.
