Partial colectomy for malignant tumours
At our department, approx. 90 % of all malignant colon tumours are removed using minimally invasive surgery. Conventional surgical techniques are only used for extensive tumours, where removal of neighbouring organs may be necessary.
Controlled studies have since clearly demonstrated that minimally invasive surgery for malignant colon tumours can be performed with the same oncological safety as conventional surgery.
We perform the operation radically, strictly according to oncological criteria, while always keeping quality of life after the operation in mind. After surgery, all patients are discussed in an interdisciplinary case conference under the umbrella of the "Darmzentrum Freiburg e. V. ". Here, together with gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and radiotherapists, we jointly define an individual, optimal treatment plan based on the latest study findings.
